Keep the Speed: A New Year's Reflection for Believers

It's almost a new year, Believers!

You're probably expecting words of encouragement and a newly tapped reservoir of internal willpower to pursue and conquer all of your New Year's resolutions, right? Guess what? No need. I already know you've got this!

I’m a Believer in constant prayer. In fact, I imagine the Lord grows weary of all my questions, analytics, and urgent rescue mission requests I send up on a daily basis! My prayers are always to be better—to continuously refine and improve every skill and gift I encompass so that I might serve as a light for someone else walking a dark path. To serve humanity, pillar my community, embrace my family, and revere the God I serve: these are the things I strive for every single day. They are my daily resolutions.

And just like traditional New Year's resolutions, there are times when I fail. I stumble. But even then, I pray, brush myself off, and keep moving!

Daily Purpose Over Annual Declarations

Rather than making a list of brand-new, overwhelming resolutions, I want to encourage you to keep moving at your own speed toward your own destiny using your own light. You don't need a calendar date to give you permission to grow or restart. Growth isn't an annual event; it's a daily walk.

If you've walked with me through my many journaled experiences here and pre-Sunday Believers (back when I used to send SBs via SMS!), you've learned my Three Ps: Prayer, Persistence, and Perseverance.

These three pillars are a true blessing, and quitting isn't an option. There is simply no "Tap Out" for a Believer!

We've already learned about the peaks and valleys we've conquered through good works and steady faith. We know that no matter what path our dreams lay upon, God isn't checking our bank account—He's checking our faith! He isn't looking at how polished our start was, but how grounded our trust remains through the journey.

Grace for the Journey Ahead

When we stop measuring our worth by how perfectly we keep arbitrary resolutions and start measuring our steps by how closely we walk with God, everything changes. Stumbling doesn't mean stopping; it just means learning where to plant your feet more firmly next time.

So rather than wishing you mere "good luck" on a list of temporary New Year's resolutions, I want to encourage you to stay the course:

  • Always Pray: Keep the line open, no matter how small or large the request.

  • Be Persistent: Show up every day, even when progress feels quiet.

  • Persevere: Stand firm through the valleys, knowing the peak is ahead.

If you've put the Lord first, your direction is clear, your path has been paved, and wherever He may take you, go with grace. You've got this blessed rhythm going—don't let the noise of the world break your stride or slow your momentum. Keep up the speed!

Happy New Year, Believers! Keep walking in the light!

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
