I recently spoke with an old college SOROS and friend who lamented to me that after several years of recovering from an abusive, neglectful relationship which ended very badly, after losing hope in ever experiencing a spark of attraction, she had possibly met the man of her dreams. But she wanted to end the encounter and possibilities before it could begin.
After much prayer and discussion about men, families, Covid19 etc., I finally asked her what she thought was preventing her pursuing the possibilities she thought of numerous flaws and imperfections she had noticed. I smiled to myself and recognized my dear friend had buried her heart and was now "Standing Guard". Ensuring nothing (or any man) would penetrate her barrier again.
Many of us of seeking a friend, companion and partner struggle with emotional scars and fear. Fear that the heart can't endure another chip or crack. Residual anger because you believed in someone that let you down, broke your trust. Until we forgive and release this anger and those fears we will continue to struggle and miss the blessings and opportunities God will provide. God cannot plant a seed in fallowed ground (i.e., to clear the field of weeds, before sowing seed in it.)
Don't permit fear and anger to blind you to the new possibilities God can and sometimes if we're prepared will offer. For Believers, every challenge is an opportunity, every blow makes us stronger, every hurt teaches us to forgive. Even anger can teach us tolerance....
Give Him some time today, He's so worthy...Many blessings.
