The Future...

I often find myself sitting with my Planner prior to starting my day. I'm writing down every meeting, errand, call and email I need to address (yes I'm old school, I still write things down too!). I also enter the important things into my mobile calendar so I don't forget who, what, and where I need to be, and what I've scheduled myself to do (okay my assistant does that part!).

My updates extend thru the month normally, but recently I found myself wondering what my plans should look like five years from today. Would I continue to manage my company and the businesses? Would I retire? Would I continue to write? Would I travel and continue my missionary work? And if I don't live beyond those five years, would I have served my purpose? And more importantly, would I have served the purpose God had for me? The latter was an intimidating question to ask myself. Does the present and my future include God's plan for me? Have I prayed, listened, and obeyed His instruction?

We Believers have all often wondered if we're on the right path to our future or have we deviated from His ordered steps. With so much going on in the world now, it's so easy to get distracted and wander into our own fractured understanding. And if you're like me, once I've ventured off into trouble, I'm running for deep prayer, looking for an immediate divine rescue. It's not easy being a Believer. Some days we wonder where God is leading, or if He is leading at all!? But trust in the knowledge that God knows what He has planned for you. And yes, there will be days you question His timing, judgement, and reward for your unsteady faith, restless heart, impatient nature, and prickly temperament, but His blessings make us walk with an imaginary halo atop our stubborn heads! Shouting to the world, "He loves me!" So trust in his timing Believers. And when those days come around where you wonder if you can whisper another prayer, take another step, offer another testimony pray this prayer:

Heavenly Father, I have so many plans for my future. There are things I pray to be, things I want to see, and goals I pray to achieve. But none of these means more to me than fulfilling the plans You have for me. Today I ask you Lord, to put my future in alignment with Your divine purpose for my life. Help me submit to Your will so that all I do reflects Your light and points the broken to You. Help me to continue to seek Your will and Your way, bless me with patience Father. I trust You more than my own understanding, and I pray that through You, I will not  lose heart while I'm waiting for my future to unfold. In Christ's name I ask and pray, Amen.

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
