Are you finally happy to see Autumn make its way? I know for the people in my neck of the woods (Texas) we're dancing with glee! Our average Summer temperatures range from 95-105 degrees in the shade! Always hot, always dry, always suffering! Thank goodness for Fall!
With the change of seasons, I also catch myself looking back at the changes in my life for that brief period. Realizing I'll never see the Summer of 2022 again, I reflect on what I've done to positively impact not only my life but those I encounter. How did I impact their lives? Did I remember to offer the grace, compassion, and tolerance God requires me to do every day of every hour? Did I remind myself and others that a walk with God can change your life, and soothe your broken heart and perspective? Offering you comfort and security in all that you do. I'm human, I make mistakes. Other folks are human and make mistakes too. So did I fulfill my service to God and others? At times yes, sometimes no.
The biggest lesson I've had to learn in my spiritual journey is that I'll sometimes miss the spiritual mark, and forget my path and journey where new lessons must be learned. I've learned no matter your age, ethnicity, culture, or background we all fall short at some time in our spiritual journey. It can be a rough path at times, but the rewards at the end are invaluable. There are times we all fall short, look at the road ahead, and feel that sense of being overwhelmed, disconnected, unloved, misunderstood, and sometimes even forgotten. Some days it's no fun to be a Believer.
But we know as Believers that the road we travel has a light that guides us. We know that a walk with the Father requires no matter how small- unwavering faith, perseverance, and daily prayer. It's hard work Believers. But the benefits are beyond our comprehension. We can only see what He permits us to see. Only what we can comprehend. Only what we can manage or carry. Can you imagine what our lives would be if we knew every plan God has for us? Would we still have compassion, faith, and tolerance? Of course not. Standing in faith can be difficult, it can be overwhelming, and it can be exhausting when we get disillusioned. But God understands this. He sent His son Jesus Christ to experience these complex emotions. So be in good spirit knowing our Father understands every emotion we have, both the good and the bad.
He knows us. He understands us. He forgives us. He knows we all have one thing in common...the human factor. Amen.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
